Legal and economical considerations
To combat legal issues that may pop up as a studio we won't parody any real world brands as to distance ourselves from any large companies as much as possible, we also won't create merchandise to sell based on any of our creations. As a company we will also create a faux NDA to act as a stand in as if we were doing the real thing.
Potential assets we could protect are as follows;
- Characters
- music
- voice lines and script
- Artwork BG
- Storyline and the narrative
- UI design
At current we would not need to make any amends to our designs other than some potential background easter eggs, even then, it should be fine because it's not the focus nor would we merchandise it for profit.
Technical considerations
What software/hardware are you using? Why?
The Hardware we're using are PC's and iPad's respectively. The software I am using is Procreate.
Are you all using the same software/hardware?
To answer this question simply, no, some of us are using Procreate by savage interactive for the iPad and some of us are using Adobe Photoshop to create our digital assets and clip studio paint, this is mostly down to preference and access to technology.
What technological restrictions/limitations/guidance have your team put in place to ensure consistency and professional practice?
As a team the biggest technological restriction we have is the resolution of our assets, they have to be within a certain range to be optimised in Ren'py
Are you using technology to collaborate?
We are using our phones and computers to communicate and collaborate over discord and Microsoft OneDrive as we have a shared file set up.
Environmental Considerations
As for environmental considerations we could limit our total carbon footprint by only creating this as a digital product therefore eliminating carbon emissions produced when manufacturing disks, the cases, and the boxes they are shipped in, on top of that we wouldn't have to ship the game across the world either further reducing our carbon footprint overall. With digital releases and specifically indie releases becoming more and more popular based on the amount I've been exposed to over the past 4 years this seems like the most appropriate course of action.
