Vampire Knight sculpt part 2

Vampire Knight sculpt part 2 To preface this whole blog post each of the armour pieces you will see were made using the exact same method, that method being - Masking out a an area of my base mesh, extracting said masked area, cleaning up any erroneous geometry using the z modeller or selecting and deleting; after that I used the dynamic subdiv tool to reach a certain thickness and lastly the Zremesher to reach a polycount that makes the model look as I want it, the finer details were just done by hand, The Belt The Helmet process   The pauldron The cloth so far The remaining pieces left to sculpt are the sabatons, the bat wing and the spear once I have those in place I can get to posing the character

Audience profile

Audience profile Demographics A demographic is a term to describe a group of people you are attempting to appeal to based upon  "the statistical characteristics of human populations (such as age or income) used especially to identify markets" - Merriam Webster (2024). This is the general outline of the list of demographics we are going to take into consideration when designing our game alongside the narrative. These demographics encompass the following. Age - the age of our audience and how we will cater towards that specific range. 14-15 Gender Identity - The way our audience expresses themselves and how we can accommodate them and avoid accidentally offending our audience whether through ignorance or lack of knowledge. We aren't aiming to target any particular gender identity but our game does have a non binary main character. . Ethnicity - The Ethnic background of our audience although this is less a target to pursue than a product of which ethnicities interact wi...

3D environment sketches

3D environment sketches This blog is just an experimentation on whether I could compose convincing city shots using 3D software in this case Autodesk Maya (2025). All I did to make these "sketches" was use a flat plane and then extrude selected polygons to construct a convincing city silhouette from varying angles using a separate camera angle to help compose my shot.  These 3d mock ups were just an experiment in using maya in my pipeline, although it is quick and useful I feel as if the compositions on top of my lack of experience make these "sketches" too static and so I won't take these any further as I believe it will be a waste of time however this technique might prove useful on other projects.

Early Environment sketches

Early Environment sketches These are my earliest sketches of the city scape I am designing. I wanted this city to be broken, battered and somewhat covered in plant life, the later sketches in this post don't really explore that last aspect as much as I'd like.

Vampire Knight sculpt part 1

Vampire Knight sculpt part 1 I began this sculpt by using the base male model. I then began to sketch the main portions of my armour design onto the model to create my maquette. Once I had the rough sketch on the maquette I then masked out the cuirass section. Once I had the mask set up I headed over to the extract tool in the Subtool drop down and set the extract thickness to zero, once I had confirmed that I had no erroneous geometry and had Z-remeshed it, I proceeded to thicken the cuirass by using the dynamic subdivision tool. I initially added thickness and then applied the change on top of that I re-enabled dynamic sub-div but set the offset to a minus value so the thickness only went to the backside of my geometry. After the thickness was added I sharpened the edges of my mesh using the Z-Modeler tool and placed in edge loops to act as creases.  After that it came out looking like this. With this I can repeat the process for all of the other armour pieces and adjust th...

Vampiric Knight Character design

Vampiric Knight Character design https://pin.it/2a4IZJezM   When I posted these drawings into my class discord the response I got the most for helmets were 4. 10, and 11 since 10 and eleven are quite similar I chose to do 11 because I like the hood and feeds into the staying out of the sunlight trope of vampires across media. However I might choose to sculpt number 4 as well at a later date.
